Hardware-connected live dashboard

An aging weather-display system needed replacing.

Selected projects from my professional work, anonymized.

01 / Context

The setting

An operations organization needed a replacement for an aging weather-display system connected to physical sensing equipment.

02 / Challenge

What needed to change

Bring sensor data into a browser interface with current readings, recent history, logging, and controlled read-only access.

03 / What I built

The implementation

I built a service that reads a physical weather sensor over a serial connection and streams live data to the browser.

The dashboard includes a compass, gust calculation, a three-hour trend chart, and CSV logging.

A mobile layout and secure read-only public view support viewing the information without exposing controls.

04 / Results

What the work made possible

The built dashboard combines live sensor readings, trends, and logging in one browser interface.

05 / Technologies

The tools behind the work

Node.jsSerial I/OWebSocketsChart.js
