Anonymized case study
Infrastructure modernization for a 24/7, multi-site operation
A multi-site operation needed managed networks, a connected device fleet and recoverable systems.
Work shown is anonymized to protect the organizations involved.
01 / Context
The setting
I lead technology for a 24/7, multi-site operation and am the sole owner of its disaster recovery.
02 / Challenge
What needed to change
Modernize the networks, phones, field-device fleet, application hosting, and recovery arrangements that support daily operations.
03 / What I built
The implementation
I replaced four separate consumer-grade routers with a centrally managed UniFi platform, including VLANs, network segmentation, firewall zones, and routine patching.
I led a migration from a legacy PBX and carrier lines to VoIP across sites.
I deployed 73 rugged Windows laptops and brought them online over cellular for the first time, with Group Policy, software restrictions, and firewall rules.
The hosting and recovery work includes AWS EC2/Linux application hosting, automated database backups to S3, imaging and standby systems, remote power control for critical machines, and documented recovery runbooks.
04 / Results
What the work made possible
Four separate routers were replaced by centrally managed networking. The 73-device laptop fleet gained cellular connectivity and centrally applied restrictions.
Application hosting, backups, standby systems, and recovery procedures are part of the infrastructure I operate and maintain.
